The world-famous race will have as its stage the circuit the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo and Dino Ferrari in Imola, from May 17 to 19 you can witness this wonderful experience. To understand the iconic nature of this world-renowned circuit, it is only right to find out how it came to be.

How the iconic Imola Circuit was born.

The history of the Imola circuit has roots dating back to 1947, when Alfredo Campagnoli, Tonino Noè, Ugo Montevecchi and Graziano Golinelli founded the Ente Sport e Turismo Imola, with the goal of creating a track for motorcycle racing. Enzo Ferrari joined the project in 1948, helping to turn the circuit into a permanent track. Work officially began in 1950 and the track was inaugurated in 1953 with the CONI Grand Prix.

In the following years, the circuit hosted numerous competitions, including Formula 1 events starting in 1963. In 1970 it was renamed Autodromo Dino Ferrari in honor of Enzo Ferrari’s son, while in 1988 it assumed its current name of Autodromo Enzo and Dino Ferrari.

After changes to the layout followed the tragic weekend of the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix, the circuit underwent further changes in 2008 to improve safety. However, in the 2000s it lost some of its major competitions, including Formula 1. It returned to the Formula 1 calendar in 2020, with races also in 2021 and 2022.

The circuit was also supposed to host Formula 1 in 2023, but was canceled due to a weather emergency.
