The Ancient Market in the Quadrilater
Starting from Piazza Maggiore it is possible to go into the adjacent alleys and let yourself go to the aromas and perfumes that characterize them, because in the quadrilateral the best Emilian production and tradition is gathered, with the characteristic shops whose merchandise is exhibited on benches outside the entrances.
The quadrilateral is delimited by Via degli Orefici, Portico del Pavaglione, Via Clavature and Via Castiglione and for centuries it has been the seat of markets devoted to commerce so much that some streets still remember the ancient origins to which they were destined.
This is the heart of Bologna “the fat”, in which all the love for food emerges strongly for the sight and smell. Here numerous shops offer outdoor chairs and tables where you can sit and taste the typical products accompanied by a good glass of wine. Ideal for brunches and aperitifs, the quadrilateral will amaze you with its cold cuts and cheeses, its crescente, tigelle, crescentine and its tortellini “take away”.

Ancient medieval market transformed, after the Unification of Italy, into the first covered market of the city.
The structure is divided into three floors, and is a space where to buy or consume food and wine products and excellent dishes:
On the ground floor there are large and small tables in common use and food shops, placed in the side niches as in the nineteenth-century plan: meat, fish, salami, cheese, fruit, bread, pasta, ice cream and pastry, wines.
On the first floor is the Eataly pizzeria “Rosso Pomodoro”.
On the second floor, among suggestive barrel vaults, you can enjoy a fresh craft beer, with additional tables and chairs in the adjoining restaurant.
